According to the Montana Board of Nursing – Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Prescribing Practices, APRNs may apply for prescriptive authority where Schedule II controlled substances in an emergency situation. A $100 application fee is required. A three semester graduate course each in advanced pharmacology, differential diagnosis and disease management, and supervised clinical practice with pharmacological intervention are required. A $75 renewal fee is due December 31 of every even year.
APRNs in Montana include certified nurse practitioner (CNP), certified nurse midwife (CNM), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), and clinical nurse specialist (CNS).
